V day

happy almost February 14th! x o x

I LOVE Valentine’s day. I always have. Whether being single or not single (and it’s usually the former haha), there are so many reasons to celebrate love and celebrate the people that you love.

Now, I don’t think I’m necessarily qualified to dish out relationship advice..buuuut, I’m going to anyway hehe.

Okay so a little bit about my relationship past. I didn’t have my first kiss until the end of my freshman year of high school #awkwardestmomentever LOL, and I didn’t have a real relationship with someone until nearly two years after that. Since that relationship (which ended once we both went to college), I have only had one other boyfriend. While I am grateful for that relationship, it was relatively short, and we are better as friends.

ANYWAYSSSSS, just giving a warning that I may not have the most relationship experience, but I think I have learned some important things. And let me tell you, I am someone who likes being in a relationship. But I want to share something that one of my best friends said to me today (upon me complaining about being single): “just be patient and picky, don’t settle for less”. And while I have said the phrase ‘Never settle for less’ SOO many times to myself, it is beyond different hearing it from one of your closest peeps (in my opinion).

We currently live in a hookup culture (I don’t know if that is a real term but whatever). With apps like Tinder, Bumble, etc. etc., it seems as if it is impossible to meet someone organically. And while there is nothing wrong with using these apps, there is also nothing wrong with wanting something more.

Bottom line: be patient. It sucks, but be patient.

There is nothing wrong with taking the time to get to know someone, but hey, if you’re not feelin it, you’re not feelin it. And no one wants to feel forced, in ANY sort of way, in a relationship.

So that’s enough rambling for now! Whether you’re single or taken, focus on the real meaning of V Day–love. Love yourself, your family, your friends, and your life. You only get one..might as well make it good (;
